This is not just another reducing diet book – of which fill libraries, bookstores, and therefore the internet, but truth story of how I lost 150 pounds in about 14 months (and kept the pounds off). A story, which i think anyone who can walk, will enjoy .
First let me copy a touch and explain how a middle-aged 6’ 0” male with a medium to large frame need to be 335 pounds. Well, it wasn’t hard and didn’t seem to require all that long. it had been eating many nutriment , burgers, and tiny to no exercise over the course of a couple of years. Sound familiar? In my 30’s and 40’s i used to be fairly active with skin diving and just in my job itself. Then all of a sudden my job changed to where I sit at a computer eight hours each day (and still do), rather than being a busy technician building and testing things.
With age also came the slowdown of my body’s metabolism (I am now 54), including a sit down job and eating many fatty burgers and other high calorie meals. Especially bad was eating big meals just before getting to bed. It didn’t take long to seek out myself at 335 pounds. I blew up sort of a big fat whale and my huge belly hung over my belt line. I had to shop for 3X shirts and 50” waist trousers to travel around my bulk. I looked and felt just awful.
The time came once I finally said enough is enough! i used to be not feeling good, was out of breath all the time, and will hardly walk up the steps to the bedroom. I went out and purchased an honest digital bathroom scale and weighed myself subsequent morning (undressed and after using the bathroom). The max limit on the size was 330 pounds. the size gave me a mistake message (a big fat capital E). That meant i used to be heavier than 330 pounds! Oh my God I thought! It can’t be! That morning, I weighed myself at work on the shipping scales. My weight was about 340 pounds fully dressed and after eating breakfast. That meant my true morning weight was around 335 approximately .
Steps I took to lose the pounds…
I knew I didn’t want (or could afford) to shop for expensive exercise equipment. Nor did i would like to spend tons of cash to hitch a health spa . There had to be a far better way. I did some research on the web about aerobics and metabolism (the rate at which the body burns fuel) and came to the conclusion the solution to my weight problem was to extend my metabolism through aerobics , and by changing my eating habits. The strict definition of aerobic is “with oxygen”. The body uses oxygen to burn fuel. aerobics improves oxygen consumption by the body and burns fuel more efficiently. I learned that aerobics (like walking at a brisk pace for 20 or more minutes without stopping), will increase the body’s metabolism (perhaps up to many hours), even after you stop exercising. this is often only one of the added perks of aerobics.
I would encourage everyone reading, to look the web on “metabolism” and “aerobics”. there's far more information there than I can possibly put here, or got to . the knowledge is abundantly available – no need on behalf of me to re-invent the wheel.
After getting freaked out when my new digital bathroom scale went “Tilt”, this is often what I did…
1. I created a spreadsheet on my computer so I could track and record my weight each Saturday morning (you can choose any day you would like , as long as you're consistent on once you weight yourself). Once every week is best.
2. I researched the web about losing weight, and learned about metabolism, aerobics and aerobics (and how they affect the body and calories). I figured I should be about 180-185 pounds for my height and frame, so I adjusted my daily calorie intake for that weight . No special diets to talk of, just calorie intake adjustment, although I do attempt to eat healthy foods most of the time.
3. I invested during a good pair of walking shoes. this is often critical!
4. I measured out one mile (using the odometer of my car), and timed how long it took me to steer one mile at a brisk pace (brisk pace meaning walking fast enough to elevate my heart and respiration rate). It took me 20 minutes to steer one mile. A 20-minute mile isn't all that fast, but fast enough for somebody weighing 335 pounds. And 20 minutes is that the minimum workout time for aerobics to be beneficial to the guts . My course was nothing quite the sidewalks of my neighborhood. Partly homes and apartments, and partly businesses.
5. I walked one mile per day, everyday, for about the primary month (a 20-minute walk after dinner). I noticed my energy state was building and that i felt better. After about the primary 10 days, my digital bathroom scale began to offer me variety rather than the large fat E error message. Definite progress!
6. The second month I increased my distance to at least one and a half miles each day (or a 30-minute walk after dinner). The soreness in my legs gradually disappeared.
7. I continued this pattern of accelerating the space by one-half mile until i used to be up to 6 miles per day (doing three miles before work and three miles after work). Six miles each day could also be a touch extreme, so you'll want to regulate your walks accordingly. But it worked on behalf of me and need to the purpose where I could walk three miles without breaking into a sweat. The pounds melted off!
8. After I lost nearly 100 pounds, I scaled back to four miles each day (two before work and two after work). I walk the miles faster too, a few 17-minute mile).
9. After 14 months, I reached 185 pounds and that’s apparently where my body wants to be. I still walk four miles everyday, watch my daily calorie intake, and have stabilized at 185 pounds.
Do I still eat an enormous fat juicy burger and frozen dessert once in awhile? OH YES! i really like that stuff! But I religiously weight myself each Saturday morning and my weight seems to be happy and steady at 185. I don’t deprive myself of the foods i really like , but I even have learned what, when, and the way much I can eat and obtain away with. One has got to experiment and adjust accordingly.
I anticipate every day to my walks. In fact, i buy a way of accomplishment after each walk. A perquisite i assume . Another perquisite is that walking may be a great stress reliever… especially after a tough day at the office. beat all, i'm in far better health. That 150-pound barbell i used to be carrying around all day is gone. My heart and circulatory system is far healthier… all thanks to walking.
Perhaps one among the best benefits (other than the apparent health benefits) is that the people within the neighborhood and therefore the storekeepers stop me all the time and discuss how I look. These are the people that would see me walk by their homes and stores every day . They saw a once very fatso transformed into a skinny person.
The bottom line…
I was disgusted being obese which i knew it had been killing me and that I needed to try to to something and quick. i used to be a sure candidate for a attack or stroke. After doing a touch research, I found the simplest way on behalf of me was aerobic walking including a change in eating habits. There other sorts of exercises which will work too, but i think nothing is nearly as good for the physical body then walking. the advantages are enormous and therefore the cost is, well, the worth of an honest pair of walking shoes and cozy clothes.
