TV series synopsis Spartacus Blood and Sand (2010)





The inspiration at the back of this series is the Thracian Gladiator Spartacus, who led a slave uprising towards the Roman Republic. The Thracians have been persuaded by way of Claudius Glaber to function auxiliaries inside the Roman legions in a marketing campaign against the Getae, who had frequently plundered Thracian lands. But after Glaber reneges at the deal and switches his attentions from the Getae to attack Mithridates in Asia Minor, the Thracians feel betrayed and mutiny. Captured through Glaber, Spartacus is condemned to loss of life as a Gladiator, whilst his spouse Sura is condemned to slavery. Spartacus, however, proves to be a powerful gladiator, and defeats the 4 gladiators tasked with executing him. He turns into a favourite of the crowd, leading Senator Albinius to trip his demise sentence to a life of slavery. Spartacus is purchased through Batiatus for gladiator education, who promises to assist him find Sura if he proves himself in schooling. As the collection develops, the story follows the betrayals and machinations of Roman lifestyles and a story of 1 guy's heroic quest for vengeance.
