Ninety-seven years ago, nuclear Armageddon decimated planet Earth, destroying civilization. The handiest survivors have been the four hundred inhabitants of 12 worldwide area stations that have been in orbit on the time. 3 generations have been born in space, the survivors now range 4,000, and sources are running out on their death "Ark" - the 12 stations now linked collectively and repurposed to hold the survivors alive.
