April 6, 1917. On a battlefield in Northern France, Lance Corporal Tom Blake with the British navy is asked to select one of his battalion colleagues to sign up for him on an project, he choosing his first-rate friend, Lance Corporal Will Schofield. It isn't always until Blake chooses Schofield that they examine of the harmful nature of the task: handy supply a message to Colonel MacKenzie leading another close by battalion, they having to cross no guy's land to what they have been instructed at the moment are the deserted German trenches to get to MacKenzie just past the close by town of Écoust. The message, which have to reach its vacation spot through sunrise the next day, is for MacKenzie to abort his troop's assault then at the supposedly taking flight Germans who are in fact mendacity in wait, the Germans having deliberate this deception for months. The lives of MacKenzie and his 1,600 guys are at risk if the message does now not make it via in time, one of those guys being Blake's brother, Lt. Joseph Blake. Blake and Schofield's testimonies because it relates to them as soldiers in the bigger photograph of the battle, as infantrymen seeking to stay alive, as pals, and as human beings who've their own motivations are advised for as long as they're able to live to tell the tale in this venture.
